Comic Final Progress Report 2006:
Did They Accomplish Their Comedy Goals?

Pat Alder

Success: 1. Convince Hudson Valley clubs that comedy
doesn't conflict with music "open mike" nights.

Clubs are being more amenable to comedians,
because there are more comedians in the Hudson
Valley looking for a place to perform. Last time I did a
couple of "music" style open mikes, there was another
comedian and a poet there.

Success: 2. If the first goal is a problem, I will travel
more to NYC.

The travel to NYC was about the same. Time and
finances dictated I stay local.
Success: 3. NO bringer shows!

I performed one NYC bringer show with mixed results.

In progress: 4. Write more.

I wrote a "half act" play based on my love life, a better, tighter set and a report about the
place I work. I also am taking a technical writing class, which is why I wrote the last one!

In progress: 5. I will travel more outside New York.

I did really well in Seattle, Chicago and North Carolina. Maybe it wasn't as much as I would
have liked, but the audiences in those three clubs were "cherce", paraphrasing what
Spencer Tracy said about Katherine Hepburn in
Pat and Mike.
