NY Underground Comedy Festival Adds West Coast Event, Accepting Submissions

The New York Underground Comedy Festival announced it will hold its annual event August 15-22 at various clubs and theaters throughout New York City, and will branch out west to add a three-day festival in Los Angeles in late October.
The festival is accepting submissions in two categories for professional comic and the Emerging Comic’s Contest.
Sam Morril Named ‘March Comedy Madness’ Champion

Comedian Sam Morril won the coveted championship title at the fourth annual March Comedy Madness competition at Comix Comedy Club. He beat out 63 other contestants at the annual event refereed by Josh Filipowski and Bryan Kennedy. Morril received a $500 cash prize and a paid opening weekend of work at Comix.
Comedian Nate Bargatze Wins ‘Carolines Final Four’ Competition

Stand-up comedian Nate Bargatze bested 63 other comedians to be crowned champion at the first annual Carolines Final Four comedy competition at Carolines on Broadway. Bargatze received a $500 cash prize, performances on future headlining shows at Carolines on Broadway, and will also get to perform on a show in the 2010 New York Comedy Festival, taking place November 3–7 in New York City.

Voting Open for March Comedy Madness Competition

Voting is open to qualify comedians for the 4th annual March Comedy Madness. In honor of the NCAA College Basketball Tournament, 64 comedians will compete one-on-one in the event hosted and refereed by Bryan Kennedy and Josh Filipowski. Fans can visit www.like2laugh.com to watch videos and vote for their favorite comedian. (Only one vote per 24 hours.)
Voting will close at 11:59pm on Tuesday, February 23.
The 4th annual March Comedy Madness live shows will start Wednesday, March 10 at Comix Comedy Club.
Great American Comedy Festival Announces Title Sponsor, Special Guests

The Great American Comedy Festival has announced that Viaero Wireless will serve as its title sponsor. The wireless company has agreed to be the lead financial sponsor of the festival and provide assistance with marketing efforts. Viaero intends to take an active role in marketing the festival through television commercials, newspaper ads, billboards and radio to population areas outside of Norfolk. The company also plans special promotions and will be working side by side with the festival committee to sell tickets and sponsorships.
