The president has reversed George Bush’s decision to send astronauts to the moon, saying that we already did that in the ’60s. Obama went on to say that he also won’t be sending any more troops to Viet Nam or inviting the Beatles to the White House!

Pee Wee Herman is hoping for a big comeback by doing a revival of his live stage show. By “comeback”, I hope he doesn’t mean the theater seats.

Urban ErmaWell you have some Black in you don’t you?” The conversation had been going along rather harmlessly when out of nowhere the question of my ethnicity popped up. Much to my bewilderment, the last few years of my life have been marked by people assuming that I am biracial. I am not. Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Is this part of Barack Obama’s legacy? Will people assume that all smart, sexy, black folks have one white parent? Should I have taken offense?

When I informed my casual conversation partner that both my parents were Black, (brown to be exact) she seemed honestly perplexed. “With your light skin, green eyes, nice hair and freckles? Really?” Yes. Really. Historical miscegenation is funny like that, continually manifesting itself in the generational gene pool.

Special Envoy and honorary post man Stephen Bosworth delivered a letter to North Korean leader Kim Jong II written by President Obama. The contents of the letter are unknown but it is part of the effort to get North Korea back to talks about nuclear disarmament. Political paparazzi may wonder what this heretofore secret letter says, but style mavens everywhere really want to know: handwritten or typed?
