Great American Comedy Festival Announces Title Sponsor, Special Guests
February 13, 2010 by Stage Time Magazine
The Great American Comedy Festival has announced that Viaero Wireless will serve as its title sponsor. The wireless company has agreed to be the lead financial sponsor of the festival and provide assistance with marketing efforts. Viaero intends to take an active role in marketing the festival through television commercials, newspaper ads, billboards and radio to population areas outside of Norfolk. The company also plans special promotions and will be working side by side with the festival committee to sell tickets and sponsorships.
The festival will honor Dick Carson, the brother of the late Johnny Carson, for his distinguished career as a television director, and will feature special guest performances by ventriloquist Taylor Mason and comedian Wendy Liebman.
The festival’s amateur comedy contest will launch with the first preliminary round that will take place February 20 at the Divots Conference Center in Norfolk, NE. Comedian Troy Baxley will host the event. A maximum of 12 amateur comedians will compete at each of the shows with the top two, as voted by the audience, moving on to the amateur finals during the festival in June. Four “wild card” comedians also will also be selected to advance from amateur competitions to the finals on Wednesday, June 16.
The Viaero Great American Comedy Festival will run June 16-20 in Norfolk, NE.
