The voters of Massachusetts have spoken, tossing aside stand-in Democrat Martha Coakley for Republican hottie, Scott Brown. It is nothing less than a Twilight Zonian moment to picture a Republican sitting in the seat that Senator Ted Kennedy held for 46 years. Many are painting this as a referendum on “Obamacare,” anger over the economy, and a general anti-incumbent consciousness, but it may not be that deep. Maybe Massachusetts just wanted to get out of the house and play the field.

For better or for worse, what the Democratic Party and the People of Massachusetts had, could be considered a marriage. At the very least it was a long-term, committed relationship, maybe too long. No matter how good a relationship is, it’s natural to wonder what else is out there that you might be missing. Even if Marsha – I mean, Martha – hadn’t run the worst campaign in Christendom, the citizens of Massachusetts were ready to put on their party shoes and hit the dance floor with just about anyone other than a Democrat. They voted on the rebound and Scott Brown just happened to be there.

MonoblogueP. Diddy just bought his son, Justin, a $360,000 Maybach, complete with a chauffeur, for his 16th birthday. To teach his kid the value of a dollar, Diddy is insisting that before his school pick-up each morning, the chauffeur must do a paper route.

Two police officers were just suspended for the rest of the year. They showed incredibly bad judgment by showing up at the pistol range with a basketball.

Top Grossing Comedy Tours of 2009

Dane-CookPollstar named two comedians on its 2009 Year End Top 50 North American Tours. Jeff Dunham ranked #23, grossing $34.6 million, topping some of the year’s hottest music stars including Lil’ Wayne and Toby Keith, while Dane Cook ranked #31, grossing $28.1 million, besting superstars Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Eric Clapton. Both Dunham and Cook are repped by Creative Artists Agency.

Marion Grodin and Michele BalanComedians Michele Balan and Marion Grodin will tape a comedy pilot, Marion and Michele, on February 11 at 8pm at Gotham Comedy Club in New York City. Balan, best known for her top scoring performances as a finalist on Last Comic Standing, has appeared on Comics Unleashed and MTV Logo’s OUTLaugh. Grodin, whose opening act credits include Lewis Black and Robert Klein, has appeared on Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The View.
